Unit President's Message

I find rallies to be so much fun! Rallies are also great to way for us to meet new friends that we will hopefully see down the road. The 2024 boondocking lunar eclipse rally was a rally filled with great conversation and activities.  We had 15 total rigs plus we had a meet and greet with the Region 11 group (UT/AZ).  Other memorable activities were an evening in Luckenbach, bourbon tasting, campfire chats and THE food!  The actual eclipse was a little cloudy but we were able to see enough to be satisfied and ready for the next one in 21 years.  Check out Facebook; there were a lot of photos posted about this rally.  There are also some photos found in the latter pages of this newsletter.

I would like to welcome our new members Adam Schwartz and Ginny Belofsky, Miles Redfield and Kitty Kalil, James Fluet and Cris Pimentel, Chris and Susan Oberding, Scott and Suzanne Byrd and new affiliate members Raul and Ofelia Izuquierdo, Neto and Alice Diaz, Chris and Lori Modly, Regina Jo Carlson, and Joanne McCarvery. Allison and I look forward to seeing each of you are a future rally.

Speaking of rallies…more fun can be had this year with more rallies planned!  The following is what we have planned:

On May 1, the Region 9 rally commences.  Currently, we have 20 rigs attending this year’s region 9 rally from THCU. Nancy has put together an exciting agenda this year. There are a few sites remaining at Riverwalk RV Resort; you don’t want to miss out on this.

The rally with GHAC at Crocket Lake on June 27 – 30 is quickly approaching. We have five spots remaining. Check out page 5 for the itinerary and the information for getting signed up.  There is a $21/per person rally fee for this event.  The last rally we had with GHAC in Fredericksburg was a lot of fun.

For the August 2024 luncheon, a survey will be sent out with our food and location choices. Keep an eye out for the email so you can get your vote in.

The Mother Neff State Park rally reservation for August 29 – September 2 has been completed. Since this rally is over the Labor Day weekend and the park is very small, it is going to fill up quickly. Anyone still interested in this rally needs to make a reservation through Texas Parks & Wildlife. This rally will be a great opportunity to get a behind the scene experience of Baylor University and an opportunity to see how a how a local salvage yard operates.

The International rally in Sedelia, MO is around the corner. We have 19 rigs signed up for International with 14 rigs going on a caravan. The group reservation for Martin Creek State Park in Tatum, Texas has been completed with the assumption those caravanning will be there for two nights.  If you are going to International and would like to caravan, additional information can be found on page 6.

Finally, I would like to thank Nancy Fitzgerald for her leadership as Region 9 President and building a club that I am proud to be part of.
