About Us
Airstream, Inc.
Airstream has remained an iconic presence in the RV industry for more than 80 years, growing from the plant Wally Byam founded in Los Angeles, California, to the current 180,000 square foot manufacturing facility on 40 acres in Jackson Center, Ohio.
Airstream, Inc.—based in Jackson Center since 1952—is a division of Thor Industries where approximately 1,500 trailers and 325 touring vans are manufactured each year.
As Byam and his team were focused on high quality and innovative solutions, Airstream continues to evolve based on dealer and customer input and industry-leading design processes. Airstream’s long tradition of manufacturing excellence led Money Magazine to declare it one of the “99 things that Americans make best.”
Airstreams can be found on display in the Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa), the RV Hall of Fame, and the Henry Ford museum. An Airstream trailer was even selected by NASA to house the first astronauts back from the moon.
